Hello. Welcome back to my blog. Is it too late to say Happy New Month?
Anyway…
Today’s post will be a quick appreciation post for my friends.
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” ― Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey –
There are different types of friends in my circle and I will share with you the types that stand out for me. A big thank you to all of you who are a part of this circle in my life.
The patient ones
Not so many people can actually wait for you to come around. Despite this there are those who have shown that it can be done.
That people can be patient and let you take your time to deal with stuff whenever you want to go through it alone. These friends. These people. Don’t lose them.
More than that, even as they wait , they’re kind about it. They don’t flip out on you but give you your space and will still be there with arms open wide.
God bless y’all who are patient friends.
The givers
To be honest sometimes it’s really nice to be the one on the receiving end. I’m grateful because I have been fortunate enough to be in the position of receiving and not just in terms of things we can quantify.
Yes I appreciate the times I’ve had friends send me gifts, money , buy me chocolates (my fav) but also I have been blessed with the gift of company. It takes quite a lot to spare time or if you like create time to be with the people you cherish.
That’s not a gift to just be taken lightly and that’s why I say thank you.
The honest ones
Very few would say they like hearing the truth especially when it’s coming from others. This is because it’s so easy to feel like you’ve been cornered and you’re just being hammered down with things you probably thought were okay about yourself but it turns they really aren’t… ..among other things.
Honest friends keep you on check when you’re trippin’. They don’t let you sleep on yourself and your goals and your dreams.. there’ll be there to tell you you’ve been slacking.
Even though we /I may not sometimes see it now there’ll always be a time when you’ll look back and be grateful that whatever thing it was , was pointed out to you earlier and as a result .. you’re currently at such a good place.
Keep firing those truths friends but with love.
The caring ones
These friends are those who will check on you and will not assume what their gut feeling tells them.
In the sense that, where they can feel that things aren’t right with their friends, they don’t just stop and say at least I asked him/her how they’re doing.
These are those friends who will look for any way to get a hold of you and provide a safe space for you to open up to them and lay bare your vulnerabilities. These are the ones you want to share stuff with and not worry bout hearing it all about. They are the friends you can confide in and because of their genuine concern for you they won’t ever do things that would hurt/ be damaging to you and your reputation.
They aren’t many in your circle these ones.
The ones who give encouragement
These are those people you want to give a call first after receiving bad news, poor grades or any other thing in this chain.
It’s just like God already fills them with the message you need in that particular moment and all that is left for you to do is receive. These people are the reason why we have not given up on life, on our goals, on our dreams etc…
The loving ones
But aren’t all our friends loving?
Yes, I’d like to believe so but for this I mean those who can actually show it.Those who give you the longest hugs and tell you how much they love and appreciate you. These are those friends whose messages you read with the phrase “aaaaaawww” almost everytime. These are those friends you describe as sweethearts, darlings…whatever floats your boat really.
So precious you are 💕
All the above said, your friends need not fit in only one of these types. One person could be both the honest one and the caring one etc etc.
Another last thing I wish to point out is that, incase you were thinking of some people who you consider friends and the first thought that would come to your mind is them being mean or any other negative attribute, I really don’t think you have any business calling them your friends to begin with.
And with that, Have a great weekend ahead !
Till next week…
“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”
― William Shakespeare.
Having great friends to share your life with is a really awesome gift!!
