So the last time I rode a bike was back in 2017. I was pretty excited as I couldn’t remember the last time I was on a bike prior to the time.
I should have known better than to rely on my experience during my younger years as being sufficient. Nevertheless, here I was finally going to be on a bike again and in the company of my loved ones.
(It was going to be a fun Sunday. Like shoutout to myself for not sleeping in on a Sunday! I was actually going to be active!)
I cycled round about two laps just as a rehearsal to see if I still had it in me to ride a bike and Alas! I was set to go. Off to the cycling track I went.
I started out pretty okay .. well for like the first five minutes was it ? Actually I think 5 minutes is stretching it. I started having navigation challenges. (I declare myself sense of direction challenged now because ….)
I wasn’t ready. I just didn’t know I was that bad . I could not just follow a simple cycling track. You guys I was literally all over the place.. creating my own tracks in the bushes..
Brings me to my excuse number like 10? .. ( Perhaps I should have had my glasses on and maybe my situation would have been better )
So I decided that for the sake of my safety and those riding along I would just have a long walk with my bike by my side because I wasn’t about to risk it all for adventure! Also I could get in tune with nature as I walked and looked at those different leaves on the trees. Trying to put those biology lessons to some use.
Things were pretty okay there on. I was just walking a few kilometres after all right ?
But then things became – not okay.
I think my relationship with Mother Nature was becoming a bit too intense. There were sparks here and there and before I knew it she’s in all her feels. Just pouring !
Then as expected the rain and the sand did their thing. Testing my centre of gravity …..
and they won! How could I have stood a chance?
But at least I made it back where it all started.
So now this new month I’m looking for someone to go biking with to see if I’ll tell a different story.
Comment if you’d like to be that person.
Happy New month!!
New chapter. The pen is yours.
Be true to your work, your word, and your friend.
